What can we Screan?

We currently Screan used cars, non-commercial trailers, leisure boats, caravanas, and vintage cars. We have specific checklists tailored to each category of item.

What happens if the car is already sold?

Shoot, the vehicle you had your eye on has already been sold! How we handle this situation essentially depends on whether the Screaner has already travelled to the viewing destination or not. 

If the vehicle or item has already been sold by the time the Screaner contacts the seller to make a viewing appointment, you’ll receive a full refund.

If the Screaner arrives at the viewing destination and is only then informed that the item has been sold, or has become unavailable due to circumstances beyond the Screaner’s control, you will receive no refund.

All refund requests must be made via email and sent to howzit@screan.co.za

Refunds will be made via our payment gateway (Payfast) onto the card that was used to make the purchase. Failing that, we will EFT into your designated bank account.

What happens if the advert is a scam?

Unfortunately, some adverts turn out to be scams. How we handle this situation essentially depends on whether the Screaner has already arrived at the viewing destination or not. 

If the Screaner makes contact with the seller, but before the Screaner has gone to view the item, the Screaner uses his/her years of experience in the industry to determine that this is a dodgy deal or scam, the Screaner decides that you, the customer, should walk away because you are going to get taken for a ride (not a nice ride). If in this instance, the Screaner has made that determination without travelling to inspect the item, then you are entitled to a 30% refund.

If the Screaner has arrived at his or her viewing destination and it turns out that the advert is a scam, or the item, for whatever reason has become unavailable due to circumstances beyond their control, then you will receive no refund. 

Does Screan make purchase recommendations?

No. Screaners compile detailed buyer’s reports based on their assessment of the item’s condition and our comprehensive checklists. (See a sample report here.) The aim of these reports is to empower you, the customer, to make an informed purchase decision. Screan does not make purchase recommendations; the decision to buy or not always rests with you, the customer.

What happens if I decide to buy an item, but I’m not happy with my purchase?

Remember that Screan does not make purchase recommendations; the decision to buy or not always rests with you. Should you decide to purchase an item and are later unhappy with your purchase, Screan can not be held liable.

Can my Screaner negotiate a better price for me?

Yes! Should you decide you’d like to purchase an item we’ve Screaned for you, we offer an optional extra price negotiation service. Your Screaner already knows the item inside-out, has tons of experience in the industry, and is best placed to negotiate the best possible price for you.

Please note: Your Screaner will do his or her level best to get as much off the asking price as possible. However, sellers sometimes play hardball and discounts are not always given.
