Ronald Nkonjwa is one of our Screaners covering the Johannesburg area, and a through-and-through car enthusiast. We asked him about his experience of working with Screan, and got to know him a little better along the way. Here’s what he had to say:
Hey, Ronald, how are you doing?
I’m good, thanks.
What area do you cover for Screan?
I cover the Gauteng/Johannesburg area mainly.
How long have you been a Screaner?
I’ve been with Screan since they started, so just under a year now.
What other work do you do outside of Screan?
I work for Dent Doctor, I do QC (quality check). I have a great interest in cars; I love cars. I also used to be a salesperson selling cars.
What do you enjoy most about being a Screaner?
I enjoy meeting people, and fulfilling people’s dreams in terms of helping people find the cars they want.
What do you think is the most valuable aspect of the service Screan provides?
These days there are so many con artists out there. Say now you come from Cape Town to Joburg to view a car, and the next thing the car you are looking at is not even the same car you saw in the pictures! Through Screan, I can go for you, and confirm that the car is the same one in the pictures, and that the car is what they say it is.
If you had to give a prospective second-hand car buyer one piece of golden advice, what would it be?
Check that the paint of the car matches across the whole body, and that the car has never been in a major accident. And try to make sure that you’re buying from a reputable dealer.
Have you had any strange experiences while doing Screans?
Yes, actually, there were two incidents when I went to Screan a car and the car wasn’t even there. They told me ‘the car is coming’, but then they brought a different car altogether. So of course, I told the customer not to do any business with those people.
What’s your ultimate dream car?
At the moment, the Toyota Fortuner.
